So this past weekend millions of women embarked upon the movie theaters to see the long anticipated 50 Shades of Grey . Adopted after a book that didn't show much command of the english language , so many people ; well so many women couldn't wait to see the written words unfold line by line, chapter by chapter on the big screen .
Out of those millions , 100 women showed up for a private screening followed by an after screening fete to continue the conversation in Wilmington, NC. In between the release of the trailer and the actual day of the screening I read, watched, listened and heard the criticism from a lot of people on their thoughts of 50 Shades so I set up alerts and every time something new was posted I was notified . I called this research. My fascination with 50 shades wasn't about the propaganda that main stream media uses to sell everything . It was about the Love story of 2 people that came from very different backgrounds and had a history of issues that helped shape them into the characters we saw on screen . Anastasia Steele - Grew up watching her mom marry not once but 4 times and that tells me there were a lot of men in and out of their lives , someone new to call Dad. During the conversation surrounding attending her graduation in the movie , Mom couldn't make it because her 4th Stepdad was sick ......A sign of a woman who puts their man first .... Christian Grey - The son of a crack addicted prostitute , understood hunger to the point it became part of his mission. He was also the victim of sexual abuse which he misinterpreted as love by a friend of his mom whom he played submissive for. ALL ISSUES that happen to people everyday and instead of seeing the Look I know there are some erotic scenes but that happens in movies everyday. I think that we put more focus on this film in the wrong areas than we should . Before we ask ourselves about 50 Shades of Grey - we should be researching what each shade is ? We all have shades that have shaped us into who we are and who we will become in the future if we think that far ahead . And each shade represents a situation, a circumstance, a person, place and thing that when combined creates a big screen fiasco of why we do what we do . On that point do we stand in awe of what we presently see or do we in our inquiring minds want to know how to get to what we see so we can either mimic to become or stand clear off. What do your shades say?
